debt management program affect credit score

Is your credit score affected significantly in a bad way if you join a debt management program?

for too much credit card debt? For how long?

Didn’t me..I went thru credit counseling about 15 years ago…and when I bought a car after it was over and done with…the lender acknowledged that I had done it and commended me for good effort. And bought a car with a great interest rate, because my debt showed all paid. No charge-offs.
