debt free stimulus

debt free stimulus
Do you believe the economic stimulus check given to American Taxpayer helped the economy? ?

Over the summer of 2008, taxpayers throughout the United States got an Economic Stimulus Check to use and put money into the economy, Single individuals got up to $600, couples got up to $1,200 and every child a person had got an additional $300.

Although this free money given by the US government was suppose to help the American Economy, many Americans used the money to pay bills, pay down debt, purchase gasoline, and just put the money into savings.

I have two questions I would like you to answer for this question.

1. Do you believe the economic stimulus checks Americans received over the summer of 2008 helped the US Economy? Why or why not?

2. Were you in favor for the economic stimulus check? Why or why not?

The Website How I Spent My Stimulus at http://www.howispentmystimulus.com could help you make an informative decision.

I think the stimulus check helped somewhat, but it was not enough. The problem with it was that a lot of Americans, instead of buying things to help boost the economy, used it to pay down debt. While this is good in one way, it wasn’t really doing anything to help the economy. I think the money should have been more, but given the state of our deficit, that would have come with a price.

I was in favor of the stimulus checks, because I felt we needed something to help the economy, but while I got a full $600, it maybe could have been more. Given the price of gas, food, and many other things right now, it didn’t really go too far.
