debt advice scotland
How long does it take to recover a debt?

I received a letter in the mail from a lawyer trying to contact me. I still no, but I think it might be something to do with a joint debt when I married my ex-husband. It was a loan in 1992, with around a bank. No advice on what I do? I live in England, but came a letter from a Scottish lawyer.

If the loan is secured by a property, shall be prescribed after 12 years of the last collection activity on the account. If the loan was unsecured, will be required after 6 years. prescribed means basically court that unforced. However, neither would be the case if the creditor has obtained a ruling from a county court against you, that in Scotland would be a decree. severally responsible media that both or one owes you money so if one of you has made a payment of the debt or acknowledged the debt then remains active. You must enter a "No prejudice "letter to counsel explaing you do not know about this debt, and even then it would be barred. There are many people who can help do that, or I can send a letter.
